Johanna, Protector of Earth!

As both a comic-fan and artist, one of my all-time fav character ideas has been the Green Lantern Corps. I love the idea of an nearly-infinite amount of different heroes, who patrol their separate worlds/galaxies, each one with a unique look. Of course, part of the fun of being able to draw is actually doing my own Green Lantern members! This particular drawing sees the beautiful Johanna as a member of the team!

It's funny and amazing how a favorite childhood tv show can effect my art even as an adult. As a little kid, my absolute favorite tv show was the 66' Batman series, and in particular i fell madly in love with Julie Newmar's Catwoman. Something about her height, her voice, and her almost-dominatrix personality really drove my young hormones. I recently became friends with a beautiful woman named Johanna and as i was looking through the collection of photos i came across a photo of Julie Newmar and was amazed how similar Julie and Johanna's faces were. I couldn't resist doing a little sketch of Johanna as the 60's era Catwoman.

Go Go Supergirl!

 As an artist 2 of my fav places to find inspiration is sexy women and comic books. A regular feature on this blog is New Comic Day, where, to celebrate the fact that new comics usually come to comic shops on Wed, i post some kind of drawing of a sexy comicbook heroine, or sometimes a drawing of a dear friend or muse dressed up as one of said heroines. Today's muse is the enrapturing Johanna Saavedra (who's a wonderfully sexy tgirl and go-go dancer) dressed as one of my absolute fav classic characters, Supergirl. I've recently fallen in love with the Supergirl costume from the 70's and due to the fact that it fits perfectly with the go-go-dancing motif, it was a good reason to draw Johanna dressed as my fav kryptonian.
